Chris Moore has worked at NASA for over 30 years. He is the Deputy Director of the Advanced Exploration Systems Division in the Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters, where he leads the development and testing of prototype systems for future exploration missions. He has managed five major technology programs since 2002. From 1985 to 2002, he worked at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia where he designed, integrated, and tested Space Shuttle payloads, managed structures and materials technology projects, and conducted research on robotics. He received a Ph. D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1991, a M. S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1984, and a B. S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia in 1983.
