Special Agent Erik Saracino is currently a Special Agent/Criminal Investigator/1811 and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Office of Inspector General (OIG), New Jersey Post of Duty (9+ years). Prior to NASA OIG, Erik served as a Special Agent with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission OIG for 2 years. SA Saracino’s additional law enforcement career includes 4 years as a Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) as a prior enlisted member and active duty officer, achieving the rank of Captain. SA Saracino holds a B.S. in Forensic Accounting and Fraud Examination from West Virginia University and a B.A. in Education with a specialization in law enforcement from Wayland Baptist University. Erik serves as the co-chair of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)/Small Business Technology Transfer Research (STTR) Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Working Group Task Force and an active member of the Grant Fraud Working Group. SA Saracino routinely teaches at the Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (CIGIE) Contract & Grant fraud training seminars designed to educate special agents and other federal law enforcement entities on criminal, civil, and administrative investigations involving federal fraud in various programs. Lastly, Erik conducts monthly fraud presentations at the National Collaboration and Development Center, Willow Grove Air National Guard Base, PA, educating the intelligence community of ways OIGs and intelligence folks can utilize resources to maximize capabilities for both sides to reach a common goals towards mission requirements.
