Michael is the Chief Technologist for the SMD. He leads surveying and assessing technology needs for the Heliophysics, Astrophysics, Earth Science, and Planetary Science Divisions, and is the primary liaison to the NASA Office of Chief Technologist and STMD. During his 27-year career at NASA field centers and in the private sector, he has led numerous cutting-edge IT projects involving high-performance computing, sensor webs concepts for future DoD and NASA architectures, and software engineering for science algorithms. He holds a B.S. in Meteorology from Florida State University, an M.S. in Atmospheric Science from Purdue University, and an MBA in Management of Technology from Georgia Tech.
